Procedure to Accept ssl Webmail
We have changed the webmail system to take you to the secure webamil login. This is to provide maximum security when checking email from untrusted networks. You could be at a hotspot or even at a friends house and wish to check your messages.
Anyone could be watching the connection and capture your email username and password, hence we need tighter security.
Every precaution helps today.
If you try to go to our non-secure site the following will come on screen.
Click on Log in using SSL. You will then go to:
Please click on I Understand the risks
You will be taken to this window
Please click on the Add Exception Button
You will be shown the following window
Please click on the Confirm Security Exception button.
Then finally you will be taken to the secure login page as below
You may login as usual and check your messages.
If you are using your own computer you should bookmark this page so it always goes to the secure site for login.
How to Change Outgoing Email Ports
How do you change outgoing email ports?
If you are using Outlook Express you need to do the following:
- Tools-> Accounts-> Mail
- Select the account having problems sending and click "Properties".
- There you will see 4 tabs at the top of the window that opens up. They are "General, Servers, Connection, Advanced".
- The Advanced tab controls where the SMTP server port is set.
- Under Server Port Numbers
- Remove any check in the box below "Outgoing mail (SMTP): and, next to "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
- Change port to 25
- Click Apply at the bottom
- Click OK at the bottom
If you are using Mozilla Thunderbird you need to do the following:
- From the main window click on
- tools -> Account Settings
- This will open the Account Settings Window
- In the left pane click on Outgoing Server
- In the right pane click on the slicc server
- click the edit button
- In the SMTP Server window that opens
- Change the port to 25
- Change the Connection Security Setting to none in the drop down list
If you are using Microsoft Outlook you need to do the following
- Go to Tools - > Email Accounts
- With a dot in "View or change existing e-mail accounts" click Next
- Select your email account
- Click change
- Click more settings
- Click advanced tab
- Under Outgoing server (SMTP)
- Remove any check in This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
- Then change port to 25
